Meet the Owners of Beavers Bend Getaways

It was a long journey that took us from the wheat fields of southwestern Oklahoma to the opposite corner of the state.  With stops in Pennsylvania for 3 years of graduate school; Arizona, Guatemala, Mexico for work with indigenous tribal groups;  and a few other Oklahoma locales, for stints in the restaurant business,  our 18 year trek finally ended in the wooded hills of southeastern Oklahoma.

We learned of Beavers Bend Getaways in 2004, when we met Tim and Suzy Knapp, owners of Rivers Edge Cottages, located north of Watson, Oklahoma.  As an expansion of their business, Tim and Suzy established Beavers Bend Getaways in 2003 and it quickly grew into a successful cabin management agency in the Beavers Bend State Park and Broken Bow Lake area.

It wasn’t long before we partnered with the Knapps in the purchase of a cabin, and in 2005 we began working with them in the cabin management business.  Beavers Bend Getaways continued to expand and we purchased the business in 2006.

As demand for vacation lodging increased, we opened the Turning Leaf Inn Bed & Breakfast in 2007 as an addition to the cabin rental business.   Sarah, our oldest daughter, was the original innkeeper and helped us get the inn off to a great start.  She married and moved on in 2008, so we relocated our office and family to the inn. In June 2010 our son, Joseph completed his tour of duty in the US Coast Guard and returned with his wife and 3 children to Oklahoma to begin management responsibilities with Beavers Bend Getaways. Our family has grown, along with our business….5 children, 5 grandchildren, 22 cabins and a bed and breakfast inn.
